The Chief of Staff program is comprised of three essential components:

  • Maintaining and Strengthening Current Auxiliaries
  • Presenting to Unaffiliated Posts
  • Establishing New Auxiliaries

Maintaining and Strengthening Current Auxiliaries

Maintaining healthy Auxiliaries has never been more important. Coming out of a confusing pandemic year, unable to have face to face meetings, losing the ability to physically interact has affected us all.

Our National Organization has just the tools we need to get back on track, or possibly repair any that have been broken.

At vfwauxiliary.org/resources you will find two valuable resources to utilize; The Healthy Auxiliary Tool Kit, and Building on the VFW Auxiliary Foundation, both of which are very encouraging.

Our goal is to encourage Auxiliaries in such a way that we embrace our colorful heritage, maintaining respect for it, while also stepping into the new technology focused world. National has graciously afforded us a tremendous amount of flexibility in ways to conduct our Auxiliary business in such a manner that all members can continue to feel engaged.

This year a program goal for Auxiliaries will be “Good Job Awards” that we can distribute within our Auxiliaries and throughout our communities. Fillable templates are available on the National website.

Present to Unaffiliated Post

As important as maintaining healthy Auxiliaries is, we cannot lose sight of our opportunities to present the idea of an Auxiliary to an unaffiliated or new Post.

Available on the National website are the presentation tools, “Why Having An Auxiliary Can Boost Your Post” (Power Point presentation also available as a .PDF), and a handout, “Top Ten Reasons For Your Post To Have An Auxiliary.”

Have the person making the presentation familiarize themselves with whichever documents you choose for your presentation, and be prepared to answer any questions that may arise.

Establishing a New Auxiliary

Regardless of the idea’s inception, the steps for creating a new Auxiliary remain the same.

  • A VFW Post must have a 2/3rd majority vote to have an Auxiliary (Auxiliaries cannot exist without a Post or be started without a Posts permission).
  • The Department President appoints a current Auxiliary member to be the official organizer of the new Auxiliary.
  • A minimum of 15 eligible applicants must be on the Charter application to warrant the institution of a new After the institution, but prior to the installation of the newly formed Auxiliary transfer will be accepted.
