Notice regarding Illinois Day 2020

It is with a heavy heart that we share this news… due to the pandemic and its uncertainty of depth and length, the National Home believes it is in the best interest of our visitors, residents and staff to cancel Illinois Day scheduled forSeptember 26th, 2020. However, we are currently working on a virtual event to capture the fun and informative nature of the day. There will be more information about this to follow in the upcoming weeks.

As unfortunate as this cancellation is, it is of the utmost importance that you recognize that if not for the great people from the VFW Department of Illinois and its Auxiliary, we would not be able to continue to serve our mission.

For over 95 years, your Department has provided a serene and comfortable refuge to the families of those who have given their all so that we all may enjoy the freedoms that we have. As a non-profit 100% privately funded entity, we rely solely on the support of our donors’ spirit, prayers, and funding.

This year due to the hardships caused by the cancellation of numerous fundraising events due to the COVID-19 virus, I would appreciate it if any donations you make be directed to the VFWNHC Operating Fund. This will provide me the flexibility to direct resources to the greatest needs of our campus which includes programming, staff, technology, early education care, and housing and grounds maintenance, to name a few.

Thank you for your unwavering support of our veterans through the years.
